Restoring Helmet Law not Enough; Motorcycles Must Go!

I was wrong.
After receiving a fair amount of hate mail because of my position regarding repeal of Michigan’s motorcycle helmet law, I have come to see the light.  The problem is really not about riding motorcycles without helmets. The problem is with riding motorcycles at all!
Consider these FACTS from the NETS:
1) Between 1997 – 2005, motorcycle accident fatalities increased 115%, while automobile accident fatalities are down over the same time.
2) You are 35 times more likely to die in a motorcycle crash than in an automobile crash.
3) Motorcycles account for 2% of the vehicles on the road, but are involved in 10% of the crashes.
4) Riders of high performance racing motorcycles, ‘crotch rockets,’ are 4 times more likely to die in a crash than all other motorcycle riders.
Why waste time or outrage over repealing the mandatory helmet law?  Getting motorcycle riders to wear helmets is like dressing poor dead Aunt Millie in her favorite dress; it sure makes those at the funeral more comfortable, but really, what’s the point?  Instead of nibbling around the edges, we should take on the real enemy: motorcycles themselves!  They are a menace and should be banished from our highways and streets!  Who’s with me?!
